Our Under 16 East Kerry Championship campaign kicked off with a convincing semi final win against Killarney Legion on Monday evening (24th September) in Direen.
On an ideal night for football both teams put in a great first half display. Dr Crokes started the game well and settled early with a number of well taken scores. Killarney Legion responded to this robust challenge and an enjoyable first half of football ended on a score line of 2-6 to 1-3. Crokes forwards Cian McMahon, Padraic Looney and Tom Doyle put in excellent first half performances capitalising on good outfield play from Terry Sparling, Neil O’Shea, Harry Byrnes and Jason Kerins.
Killarney Legion started the second half with intent and from the throw in worked a well executed goal. As expected intensity levels were raised and both teams exchanged a mix of well taken scores. Harry Byrnes for Dr Crokes put in a sterling performance throughout the second half. Goals and points flowed freely between the two local sides but overall the Dr Crokes proved to be the stronger side and in the end won out comfortably on a score line of 5-13 to 4-7.
As a result of this win out Under 16’s now advance to the East Kerry Championship Final. Well done to all players and their mentors and we look forward to a cracking final!
