On Wednesday evening (August 1st) we headed to Rathmore for the final game in the group stage of the County League. As expected this game proved to be a close encounter.

From the throw- in Rathmore went on the offensive quickly notching up 3 well worked points without reply. After a sustained period of Rathmore dominance the Crokes began to settle and a goal (penalty) and a point nudged us ahead. The conditions were tricky underfoot and both teams found it difficult at times to have full control of the ball. As the first half ended a good period of Crokes play saw us leading on a score line of 1-5 to 6 points.

The second half began at pace with both teams exchanging scores. It was nip and tuck all the way throughout the second half and proved to be at times both hot tempered and testy. However we maintained our composure and we well deserved this hard fought draw. The game ended on a score line of 2-8(Dr Crokes) to 1-11 (Rathmore).

On an evening when we were not at full strength, our U16’s again stood up to the plate and put in another strong performance. We remain unbeaten and have now reached the semifinal stage of the County League. Well done lads!
