Wednesday the 25th of July was our first County League game at home this year. Throw in was at 6.30pm and from the start Dr Crokes went on the attack while playing with a strong wind. Crokes quickly raced into a commanding lead with a succession of well taken goals and points. Laune Rangers found it difficult to respond to this onslaught and as the first half ended our U16s were comfortably ahead on a score line of 5-7 to 1-3.

As the second half would prove, it certainly became a game of “two halves”. From the outset a renewed Laune Rangers took the game to the Crokes using their mid field pairing and half forward line to great effect. By the end of the third quarter they had brought the Crokes back to within 4 points. Our U16’s found it difficult to settle after such a blistering start but eventually did and scored a further 1-4 to see the game out on a final score line of 6-10 to 4-8.

The second half proved to be both dramatic and at times intense with our U16’s maintaining their unbeaten run in the County League to date.
