On Sunday evening our U16’s travelled to Connolly Park in Tralee to take on the Austin Stacks in the second round of the County League. Evev though it was a fine evening for football there was none the less a strong breeze. Austin Stacks won the toss and as expected played with the wind. The game started off at a lively pace and kept up this tempo throughout from start to finish.
Both teams traded an array of scores during the first half and there was some great football on display. Our lads put in a great team effort, linking up well to notch up a number of well taken scores. At half time we went in leading on a score line of 1-6 to 1-2.
Austin Stacks started the second half at a blistering pace and scored a well worked goal from the outset. The Dr Crokes quickly rallied and settled into the game and began to take control. It was a warm evening for football and at times the breeze was a welcome addition. Both teams played honest and hard football trading some excellent scores. As the game wore on legs were tired and we ran the full bench which was a great advantage to us. This was another robust performance by our U 16’s and we were well deserved winners on a final score line of 2-15 to 2-9.
